Copy it and create a shortcut on your desktop. Now make a copy of FSX.exe in the main FSX folder and name it ZZZ_Mooney.exe. (I prefix all my startup flights with ZZZ_ so they fall at the end of saved flights listing. Taking the Moony as an example create the flight where you want it and save the flight naming it ZZZ_Mooney. I make my own "sub-category" folders for things like Games, Utilities, etc.

As stated in the tutorials however, I still don't install any "programs" in my default "Programs Files" folders in Vista. Proceed accodingly depending on which OS you have installed. Vista will have TWO "Programs Files" folders.one for 64-bit applications, and one for 32-bit ones. The reason I mention this is the difference in the folder structures between the two Operating Systems. Note when I wrote the tutorials, I was using WinXP as my OS. It's an excercise in logic in most cases. You have to move the stuff around yourself after determining what else you have. It's really the only way a developer can guarantee THEIR addon won't get hosed by something else you already have. That is why any "new" addon you install in FSX always goes to the TOP of the list. No individual scenery addon developer can say for sure "put our's here" and guarantee you it won't interfere with something you may already have, or even their own product.

Once you understand the layering process for the Scenery Library, it becomes a matter of looking at your own addons and determining how to layer them. There is also a link in one of the posts that will take you to another forum where Landclass and Terrain Mesh are discussed in more detail, with a couple tutorials I wrote in that thread. I recommend you read the entire forum post from the start (top) to get the most info from it. It has also been added to the AVSIM forum Tutorial section. Phil Taylor added the post to his blog a while back. VFR GenX Vol1 Area 1 2.4m Photo Scenery v2.0īelow is a link to a forum thread with several "tutorials" I wrote about scenery library management. Nothing should go below "Propellor Objects" as this is the last of the FSX default files so leave all the entries below "Propellor Objects" alone.

If in doubt you could always try reading the manual as these will sometimes have recommendations on where to place files in the scenery library. The mega airport afcads will be more detailed than the Traffic X ones so they should go above Traffic X. Try to keep Traffic X towards the bottom as it includes afcads I think. The airport scenery is more detailed than the London scenery which is more detailed than the photographic scenery.įSX will process scenery from the bottom of the list up which is why all the default scenery is at the bottom of the list. So in your case you should have MegaAirport London above VFR London above VFR photographic scenery. The basic theory is the more detailed items should go higher up on the screen (ie have a smaller priority number).
